PC Gamer UK ask “Is AWOMO Steam’s First Real Rival?”

18th October 2007

The UK edition of PC Gamer has responded to their first look at AWOMO very positively. Deputy Editor Tim Edwards came along to the Leipzig unveiling and was shown, along with scores of other journalists and industry types, just what AWOMO could do. Even though it was the first build of the system and only at an early stage, they came away impressed.

“Our socks were blown clean off at Leipzig’s Game Convention when we had AWOMO demonstrated to us… The combination of the social networking of Bebo with a sort of instantaneous Steam-style delivery system is precisely the sort of mad science we love to find out about.”

Pick up the latest issue to read more… available at all good magazine outlets and no doubt some rubbish ones too.

Future Publishing and AWOMO Announce Major Partnership

10th October 2007

Future Publishing, a giant in the world of games magazine and websites has joined forces with AWOMO and will now be receiving content from Future’s two games portals Gamesradar.com and CVG.com. This is a great first step towards making sure that you receive the very best information, unbiased commentary and the latest news about the games you love, straight to your desktop. Users diving into the 3D client will receive updates from Gamesradar whilst CVG will be delivering all their reviews, previews and news to the 2D client.

Future Publishing’s Group Publisher of Digital Content, James Ashton-Tyler is happy… “As part of Future’s commitment to being at the forefront of games media, we are delighted to be working GDI. This new partnership continues the development and evolution of our online offerings.” As is Roger Walkden, CEO of GDI… “I am pleased to be able to announce a long term partnership with Future that has significant strategic benefits for both companies, AWOMO gains a wide variety of world-class videogame-related editorial to serve to its subscribers, and we look forward to welcoming Future readers to our gaming paradise.”

The other major element of the deal sees GDI supplying Future Publishing with their technology, enabling them to operate their very own games download service via CVG.com with all the rapid download advantages of the AWOMO system. See a game you like the sound of on CVG.com? Just buy it there and then and be playing it within minutes.

Beta Testing Expands

6th September 2007

The first period of testing is going really well. So well in fact that we have decided to add a whole bunch of new trainers into the system. In the coming days around 500 more of those who have registered will be added. We’re also adding a couple of new games that you’d want to know about. The first of these is the fantastic Flat Out 2 so make sure you are registered and tell your friends. Those of you who have already registered, stay patient. As you can see, we’re expanding the training to cover more people and more games so we will need you. This is going to take time but we know it’s going to be worth it and we thank you for playing your part

Beta Testing Has Begun

1st August 2007

Good news! Beta Testing has begun this week! The first testers are already at work with the first four free games! The bad news is that we have started amongst only a very small group of testers, so the chances are you have not yet been contacted. Don’t worry though, there will still be a chance for you to be a tester as we roll the testing out to a bigger audience.
